Concrete is a remarkably universal product. It is used widely in many different ways and in many different applications. Typically our use of decorative concrete is for sidewalks, driveways, patios. Other uses are for structural applications like column and block wall footings, grouting block walls, attaching stone veneer to walls or flagstone to a concrete base. Colored grout is another type of concrete mix that is used to give a more unique or artistic look.
Concrete is also used as a finish to texture rough concrete to create faux boulders or rockscapes where natural boulders would not be able to be installed. Home foundations, caissons and cast in place columns are other applications that are made of concrete. Concrete will be used in some way in every hardscape project short of a rock waterfall/stream that has no structural aspects. Overall it is a cost effective and reliable way of doing most hardscape work.
